What Astell agents are
Astell agents are AI coworkers that work alongside your team. They have their own dedicated accounts, their own identity, and their own personality. An Astell agent is its own user on the platform, not an action being performed on your behalf. You add an agent to your team the same way you'd onboard a teammate, and the agent participates in conversations, picks up work, and acts in its own voice.
Where agents live
Astell agents live where your team already coordinates, primarily Slack channels and Linear projects. You @mention them, assign them tickets, and reply to their messages the same way you would for a human teammate. Agents work with full access to your team's connected context, so they show up to a thread already knowing what's been discussed.
Agents vs. Actions
The difference between an Astell agent and an Astell Action is who is acting:
- An Astell Action is something Astell does on your behalf: Astell drafts an email, you approve, Astell sends it as you.
- An Astell agent is its own user: its own account, its own profile, its own voice. When an agent posts in Slack or comments on a ticket, the action shows as the agent, not as you.
Rollout status
Astell agents are rolling out progressively. Capabilities expand as new actions and integrations ship, and the rate of new tools landing has been fast. Reach out to founders@labtwofour.com if you want early access or visibility into the rollout for your team.
